A. W. Buchan & Co. (Ltd)

They were based at the Portobello Pottery in Portobello near Edinburgh. In 1882, Thomas Murray decided to leave the partnership and Alexander Buchan relocated to a larger premises in Crieff, Perthshire.

Initially, production was centred around plain and functional stoneware vessels, but towards the end of the 19th century, they shifted towards more decorative wares.

They continued to produce iconic stoneware throughout the 20th century, including their well-known thistle designs, until their closure in 2000.
