My name is Rebecca Preston, and I am the founder of Legacy Antiques and Collectibles Ltd.
In 2005, on my 18th birthday, I set up my first eBay account. This was initially intended to be used to sell old collections, including comics, books, and my vintage toys. As these collections were sold, I started to move on to pieces that my father and I had acquired on days out to auctions and car-boot fairs. This avenue proved very successful, and in January 2008, Legacy Antiques and Collectibles Ltd was officially registered with Companies House
During these formative years, and as the stock numbers grew, we stumbled upon an old potato farm in Somerset with a few vacant outbuildings. After some negotiating, I came away with a warehouse. This site was my base until 2019, when I relocated to a Grade II listed former post office in the market town of Frome, also in Somerset.
I believe that we are custodians of these artefacts; to me, there is no greater pleasure than to rehome them with fellow enthusiasts. I empathise with the sentimentality that comes with collecting and will endeavour to source objects to replace those you may have lost, or simply haven’t discovered yet.
‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ is a motto close to the heart of the business. Antiques are green; by selling ‘pre-loved’ objects, I hope to reduce the carbon footprint and waste caused by the production and importing of new objects. In addition, I strive to use recycled materials wherever possible, but without compromising on quality. Much of the packing is sourced from local businesses who have no further use for it. Many of our parcels are filled with eco-friendly biodegradable packing peanuts, which can either be reused or dissolved in water to provide easy disposal. Better still, you can even put them in your compost bin! All bubble-wrap, newspaper, boxes, and padded envelopes that are worn are offered to local charity shops or put on freecycle, to give them another chance at being used.

The glasses arrived very quickly and beautifully packaged so that there was no danger of breakage. We had been looking for ages for these particular glasses to make up the numbers on a set we were given for our wedding 33 years ago!
So…. having now been married 26 years(1998) recalling getting some Stuart Crystal Cascade wine glasses, Champagne flutes and tumblrs as gifts, we were unable to find this decanter which had gone out of production. I placed an enquiry with Legacy Antiques in 2021. In July 2024 one arrived in there store and they remembered us. Very pleased with our new to decanter.

They were exactly what we were looking for.
We were so very impressed with the secure packaging.
It was quite clear that someone fashioned the shape of the tube by hand, marked out with a pen to cut each circle of the stiff foam for inside to protect the glasses.
Then the cardboard circles had leaves cut on outer edges (like you do in dressmaking) so as to fold over to fit the ends of the tube from the inside - all taped down securely.
Such attention to the details ensured that the glasses would withstand the rigours of transport and arrive safely.
We thought the package would not break even if a baby elephant sat on it!

I offer free shipping within the UK on the majority of our products. While it is free, it is by no means a budget service. The vast majority of the products are sent via expedited shipping services available from the Royal Mail and Parcelforce. For international deliveries, I try to offer competitive shipping on all of the stock. While the courier choice is not the cheapest available, I believe it is the most reliable. I am always looking at new ways to bring this cost down; if your parcel costs less than I have anticipated then I will refund the difference in cost to you.
