This is a classic example of a rose bowl designed by Frank Thrower for Wedgwood Crystal.
The bowl has a broad upper portion with an everted rim. This tapers in and merges with the stem. This then widens out to form the flattened globular foot. This is marked on the underside with the word ‘WEDGWOOD’.
It is moulded with a vertical ribbed pattern known as ‘Optic’ and is made from ‘Midnight Grey’ glass.
In addition, it bears the original sticker which reads ‘WEDGWOOD LEAD CRYSTAL ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 12.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 12.0cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 430g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some enclosed bubbles and pieces of frit, which are manufacturing artefacts.
