This is a highly attractive glass flower bowl or posy vase by Stuart Crystal dating from the late 1920s to 1950.
It has a short, barrel-shaped body, from which is pulled the broad, discoid flattened rim. This has a faintly undulating edge and is moulded with a radiating ribbed pattern, which extends down onto the aforementioned body. The body sits on a thickened, discoid base, which has a central polished pontil. It is acid stamped at the edge of this base with the words ‘STUART ENGLAND’. The word ‘STUART’ has a curled letter ‘T’; this mark was used from 1926 until 1950.
It has a maximum height of approximately 9.0cm, with a maximum diameter across the rim of about 28.5cm and across the base of about 10.5cm. The central aperture has a diameter of about 8.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 1530g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the upper surface and inside of the base. These are commensurate with use and do not detract from the piece in any way.
