This is a high-quality lead crystal wine decanter, designed by Frank Thrower in 1975 for Dartington Glass.
The decanter has a rounded lower body, tapering in towards the flattened discoid rim. It is made from plain lead crystal. The thickened base has a central polished pontil and is unmarked.
The stopper is of ball form with a central enclosed bubble. It has a lower, waisted portion, widening out towards the ground glass peg.
The decanter has a height, excluding the stopper, of 18.6cm, and including the stopper of 24.8cm.
According to the catalogue, the decanters were introduced in 1975 with a liquid capacity of 92cl, but this was later increased to 1 litre.
It has an unwrapped weight of 1180g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the body and base commensurate with age.
