This is a set of high-quality, lead crystal fruit salad bowls from the ‘Elgin’ range produced by Stuart Crystal.
Each bowl has a slightly everted rim and a pan-shaped upper portion. The base of the bowl is thickened and stepped. There is a broad discoid attachment at the junction of the bowl and the short, tapering stem. The latter merges imperceptibly with the plain, flat foot. The latter is unmarked.
The upper portion of each bowl is cut with a matte intaglio design consisting of four sprigs of stylised foliage. Due to the shape of each bowl, with the protruding rim, and the angle at which they’ve been cut, some bowls have minor matte cuts at the rim that are flaws. These are included in the pictures and may be the reason that these pieces are not marked.
Each bowl has a height of approximately 9.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.5cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
They have an unwrapped weight of 1550g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although as previously mentioned there are some flaws in the cutting.
