This is a set of four sherry or port glasses, probably continental in origin and dating to the early 20th century.
The bowl has a flared upper portion and a bulbous lower portion; this shape is sometimes referred to as a ‘poppy head’. Each glass is machine-etched with an overlapping geometric band below the rim, surmounting a pair of circumferential lines. Below this is a band of overlapping arched with elongated lower limbs that extend down the bowl as vertical lines.
The bowl merges with the plain, straight stem. The foot is plain and unmarked.
The glasses are made from soda glass and have a very faint yellow tint to the mix.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.9cm and across the foot of about the same.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 80ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 210g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
