This is a high-quality cut lead crystal comport dish by Webb Corbett dating to the late-1940s.
The bowl is pan-shaped, with a cut laurel wreath motif below the rim. This surmounts three rows of interlocking crosses. There is a small plain collar, which tapers inwards and below this is an elongated stem of baluster form. There is another collar at the junction of the stem and the plain, flat foot. The latter is marked in the centre with the words ‘WEBB CORBETT T MADE IN ENGLAND’.
This mark was in use from 1930 until 1947. However, the addition of the letter ‘T’ suggests that this piece was produced by the Tutbury factory between 1947 and 1949.
It has a height of approximately 16.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.8cm and across the foot of about 7.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 290g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the underside of the foot commensurate with age.
