This is a pair of highly cut lead crystal cocktail glasses from the ‘Canon’ suite by Stuart Crystal.
The shallow bowl curves inwards to merge imperceptibly with the tapering stem. The bowl is cut with a lattice formed from two rows of ten crosses. The diamond-shaped panels formed on the uppermost row each contain a further small cross cut. The stem has a cut pattern of three rows of concave circular cuts on four sides.
The foot is plain and domed and is marked with the words ‘STUART ENGLAND’. This particular version of the mark was in use between 1930 and 1950.
Each glass has a height of approximately 8.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the foot of about 5.5cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 105ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 200g.
They are in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch to the bowl commensurate with use.
