Retro Scheurich Keramik Square Section Ceramic Vase No. 216-20 in Brown

This is a stylish retro ceramic flower vase attributable to Scheurich Keramik.

The vase is square in section with rounded corners. It has a slightly sloping ‘shoulder’ and a short round neck, which terminates in a galleried rim. The interior and the rim are glazed in chocolate brown. This has a mottled effect on the exterior where the pale beige ceramic body is left exposed. The centre of the vase has a banded pattern consisting of two stripes of brown glaze above and below a central vibrant orange colour. There is a further mottled band of chocolate brown at the base of the vase.

The underside of the vase has an unglazed foot rim, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be off-white. The central portion has the words ‘W-GERMANY’ and the figures ‘216-20’ moulded in relief. The first figure ‘216’ corresponds to the pattern number and the second number, in the case of a vase, refers to the approximate height in centimetres.

It has a height of approximately 20.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.0cm and across the base of about 9.9cm.

This piece has an unwrapped weight of 870g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
