This is a nice example of a hanging plant pot holder made by Jersey Pottery.
The decoration extends down the side and onto the base so it is designed to be seen from the underneath as well as from the side. The body is in the form of a flattened sphere and has an applied hand-painted glaze design, consisting of stylised flowers and leaves. The colours are rust-brown and olive green on the white ceramic body.
The decoration on the base consists of a central circle of rust brown, with a line of black surrounding this. Stylised leaves in alternating rust brown and olive green are arranged concentrically and extend around the side of the plant holder to meet the design there.
Above the rounded portion of the plant holder, there is a ‘collar’, which has twelve perforations for the attachment of string or cord (not included).
The inside of the short cylindrical rim has the words ‘Jersey Pottery C. I.’ glazed in black.
It has a maximum height of approximately 9.5cm with a diameter across the top rim of about 6.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 330g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glaze is slightly crazed around the edge of the rim.
