This is an extremely eye-catching piece of studio pottery, maker unknown.
The pot is of simple form, tapering from the base towards the rim, which is slightly everted. The whole is decorated on the exterior with an abstract pattern of multicoloured glazes, including shades of green, blue and rust. The interior has a pale green finish.
The base is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be a buff colour. At the junction of the unglazed base and the glazed outer surface are two rounded impressed marks, bearing characters in relief. One contains a stylised trident with a dot to the left. This mark is similar to (but not the same as) the mark used by Valerie Rees. The other contains a stylised bird. This is hard to discern, but I have seen this mark elsewhere online and the bird is more apparent.
It has a height of approximately 11.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.9cm and across the base of about 8.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 490g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
