This is a simple yet elegant design for a posy holder by Jersey Pottery.
The body is of flattened globular form, tapering in towards the base. At the top, there is a large central hole flanked by two sets of three smaller holes. The white body is glazed around the shoulder with a band of dark brown, bordered above and below by black circumferential lines. The brown stripe is further decorated with a motif consisting of stylised leaves arranged at angles to give a zig-zag effect.
There is a small, unglazed foot rim, within which are the words ‘JERSEY POTTERY C. I.’ hand-painted in black. There is also ‘II’ to one side, which may be a decorator’s mark.
It has a height of approximately 5.2cm, with a diameter across the central large aperture of 2.8cm and a diameter across the base of 5.9cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 140g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some crazing to the glaze and a few burst bubbles on the surface.
