This is an attractive posy vase, produced by Falcon Pottery and dating from the 1950s to 1960s.
The piece is semi-circular in form with the rim sloping inwards. The random moulded pattern resembles brickwork at the bottom, with moulded stylised leaves above. The whole is glazed in a pastel shade of green.
The base has a raised semi-circular rim, which is unglazed and shows the underlying ceramic body to be white. It is marked with the words ‘BURLEE NO. 2 MADE IN ENGLAND’ and the transfer printed manufacturer’s mark, which reads ‘FALCON WARE’.
The pattern number is ‘1984’ and can be seen on page 30 of ‘Collecting SylvaC Pottery’ by Stella Ashbrook, where there is an example glazed in pink.
It has a height of approximately 4.0cm and a maximum length of about 20.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 270g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glaze is crazed all over.
