This is a very decorative example of a hand-decorated porcelain jug, probably Japanese in origin and dating to the first part of the 20th century.
The jug has been decorated with an intricate design featuring birds and many varied stylised flowers, which are both transfer-printed and hand-painted. The colours around the rim and base are reminiscent of ‘Imari’. In addition, the rim has an abstract gilt design. The painting has been done freehand and is therefore crudely applied in some areas.
It has a maximum height to the spout of approximately 7.5cm and a diameter across the base of about 3.3cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 60g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
