This is an unusual example of a decorative plate by Fishley Holland.
The plate has a raised rim and sits on a discoid foot. It is glazed in the classic blue-grey glaze and is impressed with leaves, which I believe to be from a Midland Hawthorn. These impressions have then been glazed in pale blue. Around the stem of each leaf is a collection of sets of five raised white dots.
The base is coated in a clear glaze but shows that the underlying ceramic body is a terracotta colour. This is incised just off-centre with the words ‘FISHLEY HOLLAND’.
The plate has a diameter across the rim of about 20.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 580g.
It is in good condition, although there are a number of wear and tear scratches to the glaze commensurate from use, as well as the odd burst bubble within the glaze and a few areas where the glaze is missing from the tops of the raised white dots. This is only visible on close inspection but is reflected in the price.
