This is a handsome example of a classic Toby jug made in the 1980s.
The seated figure is wearing an emerald green jacket over a yellow waistcoat and white shirt. In his left hand, he holds a clay pipe and in his right a mug of beer. His tricorn hat forms the rim and spout of the jug.
The handle is at the back in the midline and is finished in a honey-coloured glaze. This glaze can also be seen across most of the rest of the jug.
The base is rectangular with chamfered corners. It is glazed in the centre and marked in black with the words ‘TONY WOOD STUDIO ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 13.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 300g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
