This is a charming example of a cranberry glass posy vase dating to the latter part of the Victorian era.
The piece has a flattened globular body made from cranberry glass that has thick vertical ribs on the exterior. The body flares out at the top and has an applied band of clear glass which has been crimped to form ten (10) scallops at the rim. The body sits on a clear glass base, which has also been tooled to form seven protruding scalloped feet that have the same crimped design as the rim.
The centre of the base has a rough pontil mark.
It has a height of approximately 5.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.1cm and across the feet of about 5.1cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 130g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. There are some enclosed bubbles and threads within the glass, which are manufacturing artefacts and do not detract from the piece in any way.
