20th Century Fluted Glass Flower Bowl with Honeycomb Moulding in Streaked Green

This is an unusual example of a mid-20th-century moulded glass flower bowl, probably continental in origin but maker unknown.

The piece has an everted, fluted rim above a squat, rounded body. This sits on a thickened discoid base, which has a large, domed dimple at the centre of the underside. It is unmarked.

It is made from bubbled green glass with a streaked brown effect that is concentrated at the rim. The body is diamond-moulded; this pattern also extends onto the underside of the base.

It has a maximum height of approximately 13.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 22.4cm and across the base of about 11.0cm.

It has an unwrapped weight of 750g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although some of the enclosed bubbles have burst on the surface, leaving the occasional rough mark. There are also some wear and tear scratches to the inside of the base commensurate with use.
