This is a nice example of a contemporary studio pottery posy ring by Jones the Potter Ltd.
The piece is ‘doughnut’ shaped with an everted inner rim. It is glazed in a pale matte grey, over which is applied a darker streaked grey-brown with a glossy finish at the rim. This can also be seen on the everted inner rim.
The edge of the base is impressed on the inner ring with the words ‘JONES THE POTTER LTD’.
William ‘Bill’ Jones originally worked as a master potter at Poole Pottery. After relocating to Saundersfoot in Wales in the early 1970s, he set up Jones the Potter Ltd.
It has a height of approximately 4.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 12.3cm and across the base of about 9.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 310g.
It is in good condition, although there are a couple of fine grazes out of the base rim, commensurate with use.
