This is a lovely example of a fluted plate decorated with the ‘Lace’ pattern by Chance Glass.
The dish has a fluted gilded rim; the centre is printed with a stylised lace doily which is encircled by three rows of a ‘figure of eight’ style repeating swirled motif.
‘Lace’ was one of the first Fiestaware patterns introduced by Chance Glass in 1951. Production ceased towards the end of the decade, but it experienced a revival in the 1970s due to popular demand.
In addition, the plate comes in the original box with a gold star design. This style is believed to have been used between 1970 and 1982. It has a green interior and a thin cellophane lid, although this is quite worn. This bears a blue and white label on the front, which reads ‘BRITISH MADE’ surmounted by a Union Flag.
The plate has a maximum diameter of about 20.7cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 260g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although the box is quite worn.
