This is an attractive posy vase or potpourri holder in a classic design by Jersey Pottery.
It is circular in form with a slight taper and the outside is decorated with a repeating ‘teardrop’ pattern in twelve panels. This pattern is made up of three angled brushstrokes of glaze in different shades of bluish-green. The panels are bordered on each side by a thin black line, terminating in a spot. The top of the vessel rises slightly in the middle to form a rim around a large central hole. There are two concentric rings of perforations around the centre, the outermost having eight small holes and the innermost having eight larger holes. These rings are arranged so that the holes are staggered.
The base has a raised foot rim and a central, slightly domed portion, which has the words ‘Jersey Pottery C. I.’ moulded in relief.
It has a maximum height of approximately 7.2cm, with a maximum diameter at the base of about 13.5cm and across the top of about 12.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 370g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
