This is an attractive decorative dish by Jersey Pottery.
The dish is rounded with a slightly everted rim. It has been decorated with a green glaze that has been applied in concentric circles. This has then been incised to create a design depicting a horse pulling a trap with three people on board. This method of decorating is known as ‘sgraffito’.
The underside of the dish is incised with a maker’s mark, which reads ‘JERSEY POTTERY’ followed by the letters ‘C I’ for ‘Channel Islands’.
The dish has a height of approximately 3.0cm and a diameter across the rim of about 12.2cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 140g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few minute burst bubbles in the glaze. These are manufacturing artefacts and do not detract from the piece in any way.
