This is a charming ceramic posy vase in a classic vintage design by Jersey Pottery.
The posy holder is approximately oval, sloping inwards slightly. The glaze has a patchy brown finish to give the appearance of a stone wall. The base extends outwards in front of the posy holder and has the same stone effect. There is a figure of a recumbent Mexican, with a large sombrero covering his face. The interior retains the original metal coiled wire flower holder.
The underside is hand-signed with the words ‘JERSEY POTTERY C. I.’ in black.
It has a maximum length along the base of approximately 15.4cm and a maximum width of about 11.3cm. The maximum length of the aperture is 9.5cm and the maximum width is 3.2cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 490g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some crazing to the glaze commensurate with age.
