Retro Art Deco Style Large Glass Jug with Cut Matte Intaglio Sunburst Design

This is a stunning example of a retro glass jug, maker unknown and probably dating from the mid-20th century.

The capacious jug has a broad rim and tapers in towards the thickened base. It sits on a thick, discoid foot which has a central polished pontil. It is decorated below the rim with a matte intaglio design consisting of a stylised sunburst motif that repeats three times around the body. The handle is of classic form and sits high on the body.

It has a height of approximately 25.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 13.7cm and across the foot of about 11.7cm.

It has a liquid capacity to the top of the cutting of 1375ml.

It has an unwrapped weight of 1040g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd enclosed bubble and scratch to the exterior surface of the jug.
