This is a high-quality, huge lead crystal goblet produced by Nazeing Glass of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.
The goblet has a large, cylindrical bowl with a rounded base. There is a thick, discoid collar at the junction of the bowl and the plain, cylindrical stem. This sits on a plain foot that is slightly conical in form.
The bowl bears the original oval-shaped black and gold sticker, which reads ‘NAZEING GLASS HAND MADE IN ENGLAND 24% LEAD CRYSTAL’.
Although the piece is shaped like a large goblet, it is possible that it was designed for use as a hurricane lamp or even a flower vase.
It has a height of approximately 18.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.4cm and across the foot of about 8.9cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 760ml
It has an unwrapped weight of 520g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd enclosed bubble within the glass, which is a manufacturing artefact.
