This is a nice example of a ‘pub’ or ‘tavern’ wine glass dating to the latter quarter of the 19th century.
The piece is made from soda glass and has a capacious, cup-shaped bowl. This is cut with a band of fourteen elongated thumb cuts around the centre.
There is a globular attachment at the junction of the bowl and the plain, straight stem, and again at the junction with the plain, flat foot. The latter bears the remains of a central Y-shaped tool mark.
It has a height of approximately 11.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.3cm and across the foot of about 6.0cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 130ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 150g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a number of scratches to the bowl and underside of the foot commensurate with age and use.
