This is an attractive short candlestick by Jersey Pottery.
It has a broad flat base, leading to a flattened spherical knop, above which is the flat galleried rim. The candlestick is hollow, with a central hole of about 2.5cm in diameter.
It is decorated with two bands of streaked green glaze over a chocolate brown base colour. The interior has a clear glaze and reveals the white ceramic body. The base has an unglazed foot rim and a central glazed portion, which has the words ‘JERSEY POTTERY C. I.’ moulded in relief.
It has a height of approximately 8.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.0cm and across the base of about 10.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 260g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are two minor manufacturing artefacts. The first of these is a small smudge of green glaze on the inside of the rim. The second consists of a minute circular glaze defect halfway across the base, which has been caused by a burst bubble during firing.
