This is a striking example of a ceramic flower vase produced by Carstens Tönnieshof in Western Germany, likely dating to the 1960s.
This vase has a flattened, gourd-shaped body and an elongated, flared neck. The interior is decorated with a layer of teal-coloured glaze. The exterior is glazed in a pale matte grey colour, with flecks of darker grey and lilac. There is an abstract floral design in black, lavender blue, and burgundy.
The discoid base is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be terracotta in colour. The centre is glazed in white and moulded with the letters ‘W-GERM’ and the numbers ‘583-18’.
In addition, the vase comes with the original paper label, which reads ‘TÖNNIESHOF CARSTENS W-GERMANY’, although this is quite worn.
It has a height of approximately 18.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.4cm and across the base of about 6.1cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 340g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
