This is a fine example of a set of four high-quality lead crystal finger bowls, probably designed by Harry Powell for James Powell & Sons (Whitefriars).
Each bowl has a galleried rim and sits on a squat, bulbous base. The underside is slightly domed in the centre and has a polished pontil.
The glass is vertically ribbed, with the ribs radiating out from the base.
These finger bowls have the pattern number 2357 and can be seen on page 31 of the 1940 catalogue. They complement the 1464 wine suite (originally pattern number 900), which was designed by Harry Powell in the 1880s and updated by the Whitefriars Studio to remain in production until around 1940.
Each bowl has a height of approximately 5.8cm and a diameter across the rim of about 10.4cm.
They have an unwrapped weight of 620g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches commensurate with age and use.
