This is a classic example of a lead crystal wine glass or wine bottle coaster, designed by Frank Thrower in 1983 for Dartington Glass.
The coaster’s underside features an impressed design of a bunch of grapes surrounded by vine leaves. The upper surface has a galleried rim to hold a wine bottle or glass.
It is unmarked but bears the original gold Dartington sticker, which reads ‘DARTINGTON ENGLAND 24% LEAD CRYSTAL’. The gold denotes ‘first’ quality.
It has a height of approximately 1.9cm and a diameter of approximately 9.8cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 280g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
