This is a classic example of a flower vase designed by Barnaby Powell in 1932 for Whitefriars Glass.
The vase is tapering in form with an everted rim. The exterior is decorated with a continuous spiral trail. The base is thickened with a central polished pontil. It is in the ‘ruby’ red colourway.
This piece has the pattern number 8886 and can be seen on page 2 of the 1957 Whitefriars catalogue. This is the medium-sized vase from the series.
It has a height of approximately 20.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 19.2cm and across the base of about 10.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 900g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the interior and underside of the base commensurate with use.
