This is a fine example of a ceramic jug in an ‘Art Deco’ style, produced by SylvaC from the 1930s until 1970.
The jug has a classic stepped form, with a low gourd-shaped body. The whole is glazed in mottled pink and purple over a cream base, with splashes of dark yellow.
The base is plain and impressed with the words ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ and the number ‘1344’. In addition, it has the word ‘SYLVAC’ transfer printed in dark purple.
It has a height of approximately 23.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 870g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor crazing to the glaze in places.
