This is a nice example of a lidded urn or jar produced by Palissy, which The Royal Worcester Group then owned.
The jar has a transfer printed design on two sides, consisting of a chaffinch on a branch of blossom. This design is repeated on the lid, the rim of which is decorated with a wide band of gilding.
The base is transfer-printed in black with the words ‘A ROYAL WORCESTER COMPANY PALISSY ENGLAND ROYALE COLLECTION’.
It has a height (including the lid) of approximately 9.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.7cm and across the base of about 6.6cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 200g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some crazing to the glaze.
