This is a nice example of a handmade ceramic flower vase in abstract style, probably dating to the latter part of the 20th century.
The piece is substantial, with a short, galleried neck which widens out to form the broad, cylindrical body. The edge of the base is bevelled and impressed on one side with a maker’s monogram. I have as yet been unable to ascertain the potter’s identity. The underside of the base is plain and unmarked.
It is decorated with a patchy blue and glaze; this is thinner in areas, and therefore some of the terracotta base colour comes through to give an abstract finish.
It has a height of approximately 13.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 3.7cm and across the base of about 8.3cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 560g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
