This is an unusual small handmade flower vase, maker unknown but probably dating to the latter quarter of the 20th century.
The vase has a flared rim and a narrow neck. The body then flares out before stepping back in above the base. The interior and exterior are glazed in a speckled grey glaze. There is a stylised castle with crenellations and turrets on one side of the vase; a broad band of brown glaze extends from one side of the castle to the other, encircling the body of the vase.
Above the base, the vase is unglazed, as is the underside. The latter has been recessed and is marked in black by hand with a stylised letter ‘H’.
It has a height of approximately 11.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.3cm and across the base of about 8.6cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 340g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
