This is a nice example of a posy vase from St. Nectans Pottery and dating to after 1987.
The vase has a wide everted rim and a waisted body, with a chamfered edge just above the base. There are two pairs of fine circumferential incised lines above and below the centre of the waisted portion.
The interior and exterior have been glazed in a pale pastel green shade. This is thinner in places, revealing the earthenware body underneath. This is predominantly at the rim and the base, although it appears speckled throughout.
The base is unglazed and incised with the words ‘ST NECTANS TINTAGEL CORNWALL’ and the number ‘26’. This mark was in use after 1987, when the pottery moved from Trethevy (where it was founded in 1980) to the site of the old Knights Pottery in Fore Street, Tintagel. The number ’26’ is a shape number.
It has a height of approximately 8.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.2cm and across the base of about 5.0cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 160g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is a glaze miss at the base.
