Small Wedgwood Glass ‘Arthur’ Design Candlestick W29/1 in Midnight Grey

This is a classic example of a candlestick from the ‘Arthur’ range produced by Wedgwood Glass in the 1980s.

The bowl is cylindrical with an everted rim. It sits on an elongated cylindrical stem, which is hollow, and a plain, discoid foot. The latter is unmarked but bears a central tool mark at the pontil.

This candlestick has the pattern number W29/1 and is the smallest of the three produced for this range. The glass is in the popular ‘Midnight’ colourway.

It has a height of approximately 12.6cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.6cm and across the foot of about 7.4cm.

It has an unwrapped weight of 140g.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few runs in the glass and some small pieces of enclosed frit in the foot.
