This is a highly attractive and unusual flower vase dating to the last quarter of the 19th century and possibly Bohemian in origin.
The ovoid body sits on a plinth-like base. It tapers in towards the rim and there is a small step at the shoulder. The rim has been turned over and then gathered into an apex, forming three lobes. These have been hand-painted in a terracotta shade. One side of the vase bears a hand-painted stylised floral and foliage design in pastel colours.
The base is plain with a central rough pontil mark.
It has a maximum height of approximately 18.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 440g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is a thumbprint in the design on the front, which is a manufacturing artefact.
