This is a set of high-quality cut lead crystal small wine glasses from the ‘Glenshee’ suite produced by Edinburgh Crystal.
The bucket-shaped bowl is cut with ten pairs of crosses, one surmounting the other. The uppermost cross contains a three-pointed fan cut. Between adjacent pairs of crosses is a vertical wedge cut. The base of the bowl is thickened and sits on a broad collar, before merging with the baluster-shaped stem. The foot is star cut and marked at the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH MADE IN SCOTLAND’.
The glasses come in their original cardboard box, which is quite worn around the edges. It also has the odd pen mark on it from previous owners.
Each glass has a height of approximately 13.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.4cm and across the foot of about 6.8cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 150ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of approximately 1710g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although as previously mentioned the box is quite worn in places. There is also the occasional piece of enclosed frit in the glass, particularly at the edge of one of the feet.
