This is a classic example of a lead crystal paperweight designed by Frank Thrower in 1977 for Dartington Glass.
The paperweight is of thick, cylindrical form and is impressed on the underside with a central stylised goat motif and the words ‘CAPRICORN 22 DEC 20 JAN’.
The primitive images in this series of twelve paperweights were inspired by pre-Renaissance horoscopic art.
In addition, the piece bears its original black Dartington sticker, which reads ‘DARTINGTON ENGLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 3.3cm and a diameter of 7.6cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 390g.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the top commensurate with age.
