This is a set of six high-quality lead wine glasses dating to the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign.
The trumpet-shaped bowl tapers in and merges imperceptibly with the solid stem. The bowl is cut in the lower half with eight petals that extend down onto the stem as facets. The foot is plain with a central polished pontil.
The glasses are made from a deep blue shade of lead glass that’s often referred to as ‘Peacock Blue’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 12.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.0cm and across the foot of about 6.2cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity of 72ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 490g.
They are in excellent condition, although one glass has a minute (1mm wide) nick out of the cutting on the stem. This is only visible on close inspection but I have included a picture for reference.
