This is a set of five good-quality lead crystal rummers dating to the reign of King George IV (1820 to 1830).
The capacious rounded bowl is cut with a band of nine vertical panels, with rounded lower and arched upper margins. The base of the bowl merges imperceptibly with the wide stem. The latter is slightly waisted and terminates in a discoid collar at its junction with the plain foot. The latter has a central polished pontil.
Each glass has a height of approximately 15.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.5cm and across the foot of about 8.2cm. There are minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 315ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 2060g.
They are in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some wear and tear scratches to the bowls and feet commensurate with age and use. There are also a few enclosed bubbles in varying sizes; these are manufacturing artefacts and are to be expected.
