This is a highly attractive china cream jug from the ‘Samarra’ range produced by Royal Doulton.
The jug has a cylindrical upper portion with a curved pouring spout. There is a broad, angular shoulder above a short, cylindrical body. This lower portion is decorated with a complex design consisting of brown and green flowers and foliage.
The elongated looped handle is painted with a long green stripe down the exterior.
The base is plain and marked in the centre with the lion and crown logo and the words ‘MADE IN ENGLAND ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND’. This surmounts the words ‘ENGLISH TRANSLUCENT CHINA SAMARRA T.C. 1039 COPYRIGHT DOULTON & CO. LIMITED’.
It has a maximum height to the tip of the spout of approximately 8.1cm and a diameter across the base of about 7.5cm.
It has an unwrapped weight of 120g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
