This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal champagne flutes from the ‘Dolmen’ suite produced by Waterford Crystal.
The elongated bowl merges with the tapering stem. The bowl is cut with a pair of intersecting curved lines, which create a lenticular panel. This contains a central horizontal wedge cut. This design repeats on the other side of the bowl. Between these two motifs is an elongated vertical wedge cut, which has been overcut with a cross. Where the limbs of each cross meet the limbs of each lenticular cut, it creates a diamond-shaped panel, which contains a further small cross cut.
The lower half of the bowl is cut with eight vertical wedge cuts.
The foot is star cut and marked on the edge with the seahorse logo and the word ‘WATERFORD’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 23.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.7cm and across the foot of about 7.6cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 160ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 680g.
They are in very good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the bowls commensurate with use. This is reflected in the price.
