This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal small spirit glasses or tumblers from the ‘Normandy’ suite by Thomas Webb.
Each tumbler is approximately cylindrical in shape, tapering in towards the thickened base. It is cut below the rim with a continuous band of deep wedge cuts. Beneath these is a lattice consisting of three rows of chequered diamonds.
The base is star cut and marked towards the edge with the words ‘WEBB ENGLAND’, although this is hard to discern due to the depth of the cutting. This particular mark was in use from 1950 to 1966.
Each glass has a height of approximately 9.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.4cm and across the base of about 5.0cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 155ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 380g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
