This is a pair of high-quality, cut lead crystal small wine glasses produced by Richardson Glass and dating to the second quarter of the 20th century.
The capacious rounded bowl is cut around the centre with five large crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come into close approximation. Each large cross is surmounted by a three-limbed fan cut. Within the diamond-shaped panels formed between adjacent crosses is a lattice formed from two pairs of parallel lines. Just above the base of the bowl, there is a circumferential ring of horizontal wedge cuts.
The base of the bowl is thickened and merges with the baluster-shaped stem. The foot is plain and marked with a Union Flag and the words ‘RICHARDSON BRITISH’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 11.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.1cm and across the foot of about 5.6cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 150ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 320g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
