This is a pair of high-quality cut and moulded lead crystal flute champagne glasses from the ‘Tay’ suite by Edinburgh Crystal.
The elongated bowl is cut with a series of five large crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come into close approximation. Within the diamond-shaped panel thus formed between adjacent crosses is a further cross, the lower limbs of which are elongated and extend down and bisect the lower limbs of the large crosses. Between the uppermost limbs of the large crosses is a three-pointed fan. The stem is moulded with a series of six facets, rendering it hexagonal in section.
The foot is star cut and marked on the edge with the words ‘EDINBURGH CRYSTAL’.
In addition, one glass retains the original silver and purple paper label, which bears the lion rampant emblem surmounting the words ‘EDINBURGH CRYSTAL’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 21.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.2cm and across the foot of about 6.9cm.
Each glass has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 175ml.
They have an unwrapped weight of 350g.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
