This is a pair of unusual, high-quality cut lead crystal champagne flutes from the ‘Shelley’ suite produced for the Dartington Hall Collection under licence from Dartington Crystal.
The elongated bowl has a thickened base and is decorated with a band of angular floral cutting, the petals having a matte finish. Below this, the lower half of the bowl is cut with fourteen elongated facets with curved upper and lower margins. These surmount a deep circumferential wedge cut. The top of the stem is waisted and cut with six petals. The stem then tapers in towards the foot and is cut with six further facets which are staggered with respect to the facets above. A discoid portion connects the stem to the plain, flat foot. The latter is marked on the edge with the word ‘DARTINGTON’.
