This is a good example of a lead crystal brandy glass from the ‘Skye’ suite produced by Edinburgh Crystal.
The balloon-shaped bowl is cut around the centre with a band of ten (10) large crosses. The diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent crosses contains a lattice of fine diamonds. Above the centre of each large cross is a thick vertical wedge cut flanked by fine curved lines. These meet adjacent curved lines to form an arch. The stem is plain and the discoid foot is star cut in the centre. The latter is marked with the words ‘MADE IN EDINBURGH SCOTLAND’.
It has a height of approximately 12.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.3cm and across the foot of about 6.9cm.
It has a liquid capacity (to the brim) of 330ml.
It has an unwrapped weight of 260g.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few fine scratches to the bowl commensurate with wear and a blemish near the rim during manufacture in the form of a stipple in the glass. These are only visible upon close scrutiny.
